What interested you in faire:
The girl I was dating at the time thought I would like it. She was right.
Your favorite faire Is/Was:
Tie for My 1st and Kearney in 1999
Your favorite memory of faire is:
Maryland had this "Groveler." This guy runs up to you and literally grovels at our feet saying things like; "I'm not worthy please forgive me for taking away your precious air if it pleases you cut my gullet and release this poor miserable soul from the face of the earth. You graciousness is exceeded only by your beauty-" he is much better and it sounded really funny. So I gave him $2 and told him to go grovel at my dates' feet. She had not seen his act yet and when he came flying out of nowhere landed on her feet and started groveling she was so surprised that someone was actually doing this she backed away and he crawled after her. She kept telling him to get up and don't be so demeaning to yourself. Her eyes were huge with surprise and she looked all around to see if anybody was watching. It made her feel very uncomfortable because she did not know it was an act. My friends and I were off to the side laughing our arses off. I liked this memory because I got involved. The whole day I was just wandering around looking in amazement and delight at all this stuff but never spoke to any actors and did not banter back with them. The groveler came at you and made you interact. He made you understand that this was a place where everyone should participate at any level. He made me see immediately that faire is not just a bystander "look -e- loo" kind of activity. It's not like going to the movies. You are suppose to interact with the actors, street performers, vendors and other faire gowers all, in good fun. To end this prattle I will try to sum it up. I got involved ever so slightly but it made all the difference in the world. That is why it is my favorite faire.
Worst faire memory is:
Carona Burg Carona Burg bla bla putrid song. If anyone was there they know what I'm griping about.
Any favorite faire tales you'd like to share:
Dozens, but all for my own personal idiosyncratic reasons- nothing exciting to the world outside of my own mind.
